UPS Supplier in Durban, KZN & Across South Africa
Buying a UPS is easy. Buying the right UPS, having it installed correctly, and having someone answer the phone when it faults at 3 am is a different transaction entirely.
We are a Durban based UPS supplier. We are not a box shifter with a courier account. Everything we sell, we can install, commission, maintain and repair ourselves, in KwaZulu-Natal, with our own people.

What buying from a local supplier actually changes
The value of a local supplier shows up at the worst moment, not the best one.
When a three phase unit in Maydon Wharf faults on a Friday afternoon, a national supplier logs a ticket and schedules a technician from Gauteng for the following week. We are forty minutes away.
When a battery bank fails a load test, we hold or source the replacement cells locally rather than waiting on a container.
When a system needs to grow, we already have the commissioning readings, the single line, the battery history and the fault log from every previous visit on file.
That continuity is the product. The hardware is just what it is attached to.

We specify against your load, not against a price list
Every supplier will quote what you ask for. Very few will tell you that what you asked for is wrong.
If you send us a spec, we will quote it. We will also tell you if the unit is oversized for your measured load, if the runtime you asked for needs a battery bank the room cannot ventilate, if a transformerless unit will do the job of the transformer based unit you were quoted at a lower price, or if the equipment you were quoted is a poor fit for a site with an unstable generator behind it.
That conversation costs you nothing and it has saved several of our clients six figures.
Supply is where the relationship starts, not where it ends
We supply on the basis that we will still be the ones responsible for the system in year five.
That means installation and commissioning with recorded baseline readings. It means scheduled preventative maintenance under a service level agreement. It means battery impedance testing at intervals so you replace a battery bank on a planned budget line instead of after an outage. It means life cycle parts replacement, capacitors and fans, planned before they fail. And it means UPS repairs and emergency call-out when something does go wrong.
If you want a unit delivered to a loading bay and nothing further, we are probably not the cheapest option and we will say so.
Lead times, and how to avoid being caught by them
The single most common emergency we attend is a failed three phase UPS on a site that has no replacement parts, no rental cover and a twelve week lead time on the replacement.
Three phase equipment is largely imported. Lead times move with shipping, exchange rates and manufacturer production runs, and they are frequently longer than the number a salesperson gives you on the phone. We will tell you the honest lead time on any unit we quote, including when that number is bad news.
There are three ways to avoid being held hostage by it. Plan replacement on condition rather than on failure, which is what battery impedance testing and scheduled maintenance are for. And where the gap cannot be closed any other way, put a rental unit on site to protect the load while the permanent system is in transit.
Common single phase and rack mount units we can generally supply quickly. Larger three phase systems need planning, and we would rather have that conversation with you a year early than a week late.
Procurement, paperwork and vendor onboarding
Larger clients do not just buy equipment, they onboard suppliers, and a supplier who cannot get through the onboarding process is no use regardless of how good the equipment is.
We are set up for it. Level 1 B-BBEE certificate available on request, giving your organisation full procurement recognition on the enterprise and supplier development elements of your scorecard. CIDB registration. VAT registration. Company registration documents, tax clearance and banking confirmation supplied as a standard pack. Public liability cover. Method statements, risk assessments and site safety files produced for sites that require them before we set foot on the property.
If your procurement team needs a specific document to load us as a vendor, ask for it and we will send it the same day.
Who we supply
Port and logistics operators around Durban harbour, cold chain and warehousing, hospitals, clinics and medical practices, data centres and server rooms, shopping centres and commercial landlords, municipalities and public sector sites, manufacturing and process plant, and telecoms and broadcast infrastructure.
Our procurement credentials matter to several of these. We are a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor, giving full recognition on your procurement scorecard, we are CIDB registered, and we are VAT registered and set up for standard corporate procurement and vendor onboarding processes.
Coverage
We are based in Durban and cover KwaZulu-Natal directly: Durban and the harbour precinct, Umhlanga, Ballito and the North Coast, Pinetown and the western corridor, Amanzimtoti and the South Coast, Richards Bay and Empangeni, Pietermaritzburg and the Midlands.
We supply and project manage nationally, including Gauteng and the Cape, with commissioning handled by our own people or by vetted partners under our accountability. The contract remains with us either way.
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply UPS systems outside Durban?
Yes. We supply nationally and install directly across KZN, with project work handled elsewhere under our own accountability.
What UPS brands do you supply?
Riello as an authorised KZN installer, Vertiv as a Silver Partner, and Schneider Electric, APC, Eaton, Delta and Makelsan equipment. We specify to the application rather than to a preferred brand.
Can you quote against a spec we already have?
Yes, and we will flag anything in the spec that we think will cost you money later. Send it to service@powerinfrastructure.co.za.
Do you supply replacement batteries for a UPS we bought elsewhere?
Yes. We supply and install replacement battery strings for most common commercial UPS platforms, and we test the bank before and after so you have a record.
What are your payment terms?
Equipment is quoted on a pro forma basis. Terms are set out clearly in every quotation with no surprises at invoice stage.
Do you offer maintenance contracts on equipment you supply?
Yes, and this is what we recommend. Our service level agreements are the core of what we do. Equipment supply without maintenance is how systems fail in year three.
